To Kill a Mockingbird

ADAPTED by Christopher Sergel
FROM THE BOOK by Harper Lee

Adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel

May 3 - May 19

Adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, To Kill a Mockingbird opens in a sleepy Alabama town in the midst of the Great Depression, where Scout and her brother, Jem, live with their widowed father, Atticus Finch. Reminiscent of a bygone era, the play immerses us in a simpler time as the children play outside in the summer, act out stories and muse about their mysterious neighbor, Boo Radley. The facade of the seemingly peaceful town begins to crack when a young black man is accused of a terrible crime. Driven by an unshakeable moral conviction, local lawyer Atticus defends the man in a trial that sends violent waves through the community. Timeless and lingering, this hard-hitting work explores prejudice, compassion and the courage to do what is right.

David Julia & Jen in the Right Light Concert

David Julia is a guitarist, singer-songwriter, and entertainer from Central Florida. He began his professional career playing at his hometown Italian restaurant at only ten years old. By 13, David was playing the Blues all over the state of Florida. From regionally touring to competing and performing in the Memphis-based Blues Foundations International Blues Challenge four years in a row, David Julia is an up and coming force in the country’s Blues scene. David released his EP, Simple Things, in 2016, consisting of four original works and one cover. His first album, Inspired, produced by Mike Zito and released on the VizzTone Record label, debuted in 2018. The title “Inspired” is paying tribute to the Blues masters whose recordings he has learned from. David has been personally touched by the current generation of musicians who have taught, befriended, encouraged, and helped him along the way. He credits his success to the unwavering support of his family, and thanks them for always pushing him to follow his passion. You can find out more about David, including his original songs, performances, and show dates on his website: davidjuliamusic.com, Instagram: davidjuliamusic, Facebook : davidjuliamusic, or on Spotify under “David Julia”.

Sometime around 2015, Jen in the Right Light was born in a beer-can littered shed in sunny central florida. The group started as nothing more than a few childhood friends getting together to share their love for writing original music, but grew into a years-long quest to make albums and memories that would outlive its own members. Lovingly dubbed “slack rock” by friends of the band, Jen’s music is an unyieldingly original blend of the sounds that informed its members tastes and instilled their passion for making music in their early years. Its influences blur the lines between 70’s psych, 2000’s emo, jazz, yacht rock, jam bands of all eras, and alternative/indie rock of the modern day.

The Rocky Horror Show

MUSIC & LYRICS by Richard O’Brien
BOOK by Richard O’Brien

"A musical that deals with mutating identity and time warps becomes one of the most mutated, time-warped phenomena in show business." – The New York Times

June 7 - June 30

In this cult classic, sweethearts Brad and Janet, stuck with a flat tire during a storm, discover the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. As their innocence is lost, Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild characters, including a rocking biker and a creepy butler. Through elaborate dances and rock songs, Frank-N-Furter unveils his latest creation: a muscular man named “Rocky.”

That “Sweet Transvestite” and his motley crew did the “Time Warp” on Broadway in a 25th anniversary revival. Complete with sass from the audience, cascading toilet paper, and an array of other audience participation props, this deliberately kitschy rock ’n’ roll sci-fi gothic musical is more fun than ever.

Steel Magnolias

Written by Robert Harding

Concerned with a group of gossipy southern ladies in a small-town beauty parlor, the play is alternately hilarious and touching—and, in the end, deeply revealing of the strength and purposefulness which underlies the antic banter of its characters.

February 16 - March 3

The action is set in Truvy’s beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the ladies who are “anybody” come to have their hair done. Helped by her eager new assistant, Annelle (who is not sure whether or not she is still married), the outspoken, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town’s rich curmudgeon, Ouiser, ("I’m not crazy, I’ve just been in a bad mood for forty years"); an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee, who has a raging sweet tooth; and the local social leader, M’Lynn, whose daughter, Shelby (the prettiest girl in town), is about to marry a “good ole boy.” Filled with hilarious repartee and not a few acerbic but humorously revealing verbal collisions, the play moves toward tragedy when, in the second act, the spunky Shelby (who is a diabetic) risks pregnancy and forfeits her life. The sudden realization of their mortality affects the others, but also draws on the underlying strength—and love—which give the play, and its characters, the special quality to make them truly touching, funny and marvelously amiable company in good times and bad.

“Harling has given his women sharp, funny dialogue…The play builds to a conclusion that is deeply moving.” —New York Daily News.

“…a skillfully crafted, lovingly evoked picture of eccentricity in the small-town South…Robert Harling is a new voice in the theatre and the qualities of STEEL MAGNOLIAS suggest he may be an important one.” —Drama-Logue.

“…suffused with humor and tinged with tragedy.” —New York Post.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

MUSIC & LYRICS by William Finn
BOOK by Rachel Sheinkin

Winner of the Tony and the Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee has charmed audiences across the country with its effortless wit and humor.

January 5 - January 28, 2024

Featuring a fast-paced, wildly funny and touching book by Rachel Sheinkin and a truly fresh and vibrant score by William Finn, this bee is one unforgettable experience.

An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box.

A riotous ride, complete with audience participation, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a delightful den of comedic genius. The small cast and unit set make this a perfect option for high schools or community theatres. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a fast-paced crowd pleaser and an instant theatre patron favorite.

Content Warning: This show includes mature themes and content that may not be suitable for all audiences. This delightful and witty musical comedy delves into adult humor, contains some strong language, and explores complex themes that may be more appropriate for older teenagers and adults. Recommended for audiences aged 13 and above.

Based on the cult hit film of the same name, The Full Monty, a ten-time Tony Award nominee, is filled with honest affection, engaging melodies and the most highly anticipated closing number of any show. The powerhouse team of Terrence McNally (Ragtime) and David Yazbek (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) cooks up

While spying on their wives at a "Girls' Night Out," a group of unemployed steelworkers from Buffalo sees how much they enjoy watching male strippers. Jealous, out of work and feeling emasculated, the men come up with a bold and unclothed way to make some quick cash. In preparing, they find themselves extremely exposed; not merely physically but emotionally. As they conquer their fears, self-consciousness and prejudices, the men come to discover that they're stronger as a group, and the strength that they find in each other gives them the individual courage to "let it go."

The Full Monty is a story full of heart. Right to the end, audiences will be wondering if these lovable misfits will really pull it off. With a raucous mix of razor-sharp humor and toe-tapping pizzazz, this heartwarming, upbeat comedy is a must for any theatre looking for a big hit.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

BOOK by Rebecca Feldman
MUSIC by William Finn
LYRICS by William Finn

Winner of the Tony and the Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee has charmed audiences across the country with its effortless wit and humor.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is part of our West End Prep program, specially designed for youth with a passion for performing.

NOTE: This production features 9th-12th grade pre-professional performers.
